Open Beta Maps Confirmed! [ September 22, 2008 ]

There was 1 major lesson that the Tales Runner team learned during last month’s closed beta. Well, 2 actually.

Lesson 1: There were not enough maps. We had 6 in place to get everyone used to the game but we didn’t fully take into account how often people would be playing and how many people were actually going to join the CB. There were a lot of you and you all played a lot! Thanks again for that!

Lesson 2: It is totally possible to survive on Red Bull, cheeseburgers, and willpower for at least 2 weeks straight. Although it messes up your social life and no one wants to sit next to you on the bus.

We’ll be applying our recently acquired knowledge to the Open Beta (Oct.16).

And we’ll be carpooling from now on too. People on the bus are just plain mean.

So…which maps are coming out?

	Fury of Daddy Octopus: Not only will you have to run away from this screen devouring behemoth but you’ll have to dodge his lightning attacks!
	Hurdles: Clear the hurdles but be ready because there are more just around the bend. Run too fast and you’ll trip on a hurdle; run too slow and other Runners will pass right by you.
	Jack and the Beanstalk: Race up the famous Beanstalk while dodging other racers and giant caterpillars!
	Speed: This is the most basic Tales Runner map and is perfect for people who are new to the Tales Runner story.
	The Two Brothers: This is the map to play for beginners that are looking for a good way to get accustomed to the game.
	The Two Brothers Pt. 2: This map comes complete with a pit that prevents anyone from moving faster than a slow jog and demons of all sizes.
	The Snow Girl: Choose between speed boosts and Capsule Items as you make your way down a mountain covered in logs, trees, and bottomless pits.
	The Snow Girl 2: Race down the Snow Girl’s mountain but watch out for those crazy long-jumps. Take the high road to avoid being slowed down by packed snow.
	Sun and Moon: Will you pick up the rice cakes and give them to the tigers blocking your path? Or will you stick with Capsule Items and fight your way to the finish?
	The Frog Prince: You can’t finish the race without retrieving the Princess’s golden ball so make sure to pick one up.

The Tales Runner Closed Beta has ended, Open Beta (Oct. 16th, 2008) is right around the corner, and the time has come for the strongest voice of all to be heard: Yours!

Everyone knows that the Tales Runner community has some of the most vocal and out spoken players in the online world. Now it’s time to see how loud they can get!

Show the world just how great Tales Runner is and while you’re at it, why not win some prizes? We’ll give out huge TR gifts to the 5 Runners that write the best reviews and spread them to the most websites.

What can you win?
1st Place: 100,000 TR and 1 complete (Non-Premium) outfit of your choice.
2nd Place: 40,000 TR and 1 (Non-Premium) Shirt of your choice.

Bonuses for winners (for Total # of reviews):
3-4 reviews – 10,000 TR
5-7 reviews – 20,000 TR
8-10 reviews – 30,000 TR

How do you win?
1. Write and post reviews for Tales Runner on as many gaming related sites, blogs,
and videos as you can. (Be polite though, no need to spam them.)
2. Compile a list of links to all the reviews you’ve made and send the list to
trcommunity@gala-net.com by October 16th. (Make sure you tell us where to look.
If we can’t find your review we won’t count it.)
3. The review has to be at least 7 sentences long to be counted.

Pre-Registration Begins Now! [ September 19, 2008 ]

The Tales Runner team has set up a Pre-Registration page for all of our gPotato users.

To pre-register simply click the “Pre-Register” button, enter your gPotato account ID into the box that appears, and click “Submit”.

After you do that, make sure to log in with your Pre-Registered account to Tales Runner by 5pm (PST) on Oct. 22nd.

Everyone who pre-registers will receive an item only available to Pre-Registered Users!

Daddy Octopus	Fury of Daddy Octopus	Daddy Octopus defends his children fiercely and he’s noticed that many Runners have been bothering them lately. He chases Runners down with a vicious electrical attack that stops his enemies in their tracks.

Mommy Octopus	Fury of Mommy Octopus	With Daddy Octopus out all the time Mommy Octopus has become worried. She races out looking for her husband while he chases down Tales Runners! Don’t get in her way!

Uncle Lizard	Crisis of Uncle Lizard & Fury of Uncle Lizard	Uncle Lizard has never really gotten along with his fiance. He sends his minions to distract her but she’s relentless in her pursuit. He chases Runners down as he attempts to dodge the advances of his enamored fiance.

Aunt Lizard	Crisis of Uncle Lizard	Aunt Lizard isn’t married to Uncle Lizard yet but she’s determined to make it happen. She knows that Uncle Lizard may have lost interest but she really does love him. She chases him to win his love back and help him stop Runners cold.

Sailor Joe	Sailor Joe	Sailor Joe doesn’t know why he attacks Runners. But he knows it fun! He snaps at them with his sharp teeth and pushes them out of the way with his nose. He’d stop going after Runners if someone could just give him a good reason.

Hey there Runners,

You ever wish you could have your own little section of the forums? Something that everyone could see but only you and the people you select could have access to?

Well here’s your chance. My bosses are calling it “Spread the Word”. I’m calling it “Sl0th’s Army”. You decide which you want to be part of.

Let’s start with the prizes:

A section of the forums dedicated to your personal use for 1 month (There will still be rules enforced.)
Bonus TR
1 Bonus Item (To be discussed and decided on a case by case basis.)

And on to penalties:

If your section of the forum is dead, I’ll remove it. No point in wasting bandwidth right?.

Now, down to business:

To qualify you must present a website, forum, or community that you are an active part of.
If I select you, I’ll ask you to let your individual communities know about Tales Runner.
After a week I’ll review the impact your Tales Runner campaign.
If I like the work you’ve done you’ll receive the prizes mentioned at the start of this post.

Notes/Rules:

There can be only 4 winners.
Don’t use other official gPotato game sites.
Send me a forum PM if you are interested.
